The Perfect Haircare Regimen

If you’re looking for the perfect haircare regimen, you’ve come to the right place! If you’re looking for crazy cat videos, that’s going to have to be some other time.

It’s that time a year my fellow hair obsessed friends! Time to change up your hair color. A lot of you may go blonder, some may go darker, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll go purple.

When I started coloring my hair when I was just 14 years old, I had no clue how in love I’d become with having all different kinds of hair colors. I also had no clue how damaging some colors can be.

I found that if you treat your hair right, use the correct products, and do moisture and protein treatments, you’ll be on the path for healthy hair, colored hair.

A lot people ask me how my colors stay in so good and how I am still abled to have healthy hair after all the changes my hair has gone through. Well, that’s what I’m going to share with you today.

First of all, dispose of all box dyes, drug store hair care products, peroxide based blonding products, $1.99 shampoos and conditioners and never look back. Better yet, bury them far, far away where no one can find them.

Next, this is the fun part. The shopping part 🙂 Go to your nearest hair salon or Ulta beauty store and take this list with you:

Keratin Healing Oil shampoo and conditioner from L’ANZA Healing Haircare. If your hair is craving the luster, beauty, shine, and bounce that your hair used to have, this is the right duo for you! Remember, a little goes a long way with professional shampoos and conditioners. Anywhere from 4-8 months depending on how much you wash. What makes these products special is that there are absolutely no sulfates, sodium chlorides, parabens, and also gluten free. That way your color is going to be protected and your hair is going to be beautiful.

Olaplex Number 3. I can’t get over the transformation my hair has made from this weekly treatment. I shampoo my hair twice a week and I sleep with this in my hair once a week, the night prior to my morning wash. This is going to be your protein treatment which is a must if you have ever decolorized your hair. My hair has never felt stronger after everything I’ve done to it. You know it works when your boyfriend comments how good your hair looks.

Coconut Oil. This is an inexpensive, affective treatment I use weekly and sometimes in between washes to add extra moisture to my hair. When your hair is full of moisture, it’s more likely to make your color last longer. The night before my second shampoo of the week, I take a heaping table spoon of coconut oil and place it in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds so it becomes more pliable. I put it all over my hair then, put it up in a lose pony tail and sleep with a shower cap on or wrap my head in saran wrap. Super sexy. This will also promote hair growth. Coconut oil is not only great for your hair but it is amazing for your skin as well. Have you ever tired to take your makeup off with it? Mind blown.

Redken Pillow Proof Dry Shampoo. A lot of people make the mistake of shampooing their hair everyday which can cause a lot of dryness and scalp issues. The real talk about colored hair is no matter what, when you wash your hair, your color is going to fade. It may not be a lot, but it will most likely fade some. If you are shampooing in the morning, be sure to use your favorite dry shampoo at night to prevent any future oils. Redken’s is my new favorite because if doesn’t leave any sort of white, chalky residue. I like the Batiste dry shampoos too, especially because they are so inexpensive, but you most likely will see some powdered looking residue on your hair afterwards which can be brushed out with a boar bristle brush.

A smoothing balm of your choice, light foam, heat protectant, and leave in color preserving treatment. This is optional but I highly recommend them. This will ensure that your style stays and that you color is going to be protected.

Your favorite oil or serum. This is my favorite part. I like to use an oil that isn’t going to weigh down my hair and that is going to help heal my hair. When I’m shopping for an oil, I make sure that the oil is clear and in a see through bottle. A lot of the brown oils can actually tarnish your hair in the long run and leave a heavy layer of build up on your hair. Two of my favorites are the Keratin Healing Oil from L’ANZA and the Diamond Oil from Redken.

Now, it’s time to put these products to use to start this so called perfect haircare regimen. Please leave a comment below and let me know how this works out for you! If you are an everyday shampooer, shampooing less is going to do wonders to your hair.

This is all you need for healthy, beautiful hair. I hope this helps keep your bright colors in longer and can start giving your hair the tlc it needs. You only have one head of hair in this life and make sure you treat it right. (Wise words from Marisa)
